Thoughts

Each day, I almost dread turning on the TV or logging onto the internet.  I see more and more tragedies, terrible fires in our northwest, killer hurricanes in the Atlantic oceans raging down on our coasts, earthquakes in various places and threads of war being discussed in the political realms.

Alternate lifestyles of all kinds are destroying God’s natural order and the “core family” in our society.  Biblical morals are fading and being replaced with “anything that feels good in our own eyes” being OK and right.  Sometimes I wonder if God came down like he did to Abraham in response to the evil of Sodom and Gomorra, He would indeed find much the same if looking for 10 righteous men.  Many in our society serve the “God of Tolerance”, justifying their hate toward righteousness and biblical morality.  The world and our nation still face the threat of terrorism from radical Islamists whose evil quest for murder and torture continues against those who believe differently from them.

I read this verse again:

2 Timothy 3:1-5 …’This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come. For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good, traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God; Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.’

and this one also:

Matthew 24:37-39… “For the coming of the Son of Man will be just like the days of Noah. For as in those days which were before the flood they were eating and drinking, they were marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noah entered the ark, and they did not understand until the flood came and took them all away; so shall the coming of the Son of Man be.

This sounds like our society today and I wonder just how many still read this verse and cringe in fear that our time is running out.

The Bible also says in Luke 17:26:

Just as it was in the days of Noah, so also will it be in the days of the Son of Man: People were eating and drinking, marrying and being given in marriage, up to the day Noah entered the ark. Then the flood came and destroyed them all.…

Here’s an interesting article on the “The Signs of the End Times”.

Are we in the “End Times”?  I don’t know but I do know that our society and world is showing many of the signs of the end of days God warns us about in His Word.

My Prayer for today

Image of a woman praying
Image of a woman praying

My prayer today is for men, women, and children to open their eyes and their hearts to the good news of the gospel before it’s too late.

Dear Heavenly Father, I think of You and Your love for us.  A love that is so amazing and a gift which none of us deserve.  I know that those of us who have accepted that gift are not receiving the wages we have earned – death, but will be saved only because of Your compassion and the sacrifice of Jesus, our Savior.

And yet there are so very many of your human creations that are broken and fallen and live separated from You.  Oh God, that must break Your heart.  Our sinful, nature has created that barrier between You and ourselves.  We praise You for the gift of Jesus’s death and resurrection, which bridges the gap for those who believe.  God, I pray today that Your Holy Spirit will reach out and touch each of those separated from You one more time and that those ones living in Darkness will turn to Your light and accept the free gift You offer each of them.  I pray they will be convicted of their sin and be broken in spirit and repentant of their wicked ways and that they will turn and believe in Jesus and His sacrifice for them.  I pray they will be saved to serve You in eternity.

Lord, I pray this especially for those who are leaders in our nation.  I pray for those whose lips acknowledge You but whose actions and deeds are not that of a child of Yours.  I pray many, many of Your children whose hearts have grown lukewarm will once again become passionate in following Your Son, Jesus.  I pray especially for those who have been deceived by the lies of Satan and live in ways that are against Your natural order – that the Holy Spirit will touch their hearts and their minds to know and desire to serve You in spirit and truth.  May they be given the strength and the faith to change their evil ways and to become true followers of Jesus.

I pray for You to send Your mighty angel warriors to fight Satan and his minions who are attacking our leaders and the people of our nation.  I pray each attack will fail and Satan will not be allowed to bind Your human creations, nor to capture their hearts and their minds to turn against You, the Creator.

I know Your word says in Matthew:  Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. But small is the gate and narrow the way that leads to life, and only a few find it.…

As I understand your Word, many, many follow the path to hell and few go the way of the narrow gate to Your eternity.  God, I pray for those who go that horrible way to destruction, that Your Holy Spirit will touch their blind eyes and they will repent and change directions.

Lord, I ask forgiveness for my own many sins against You and for strength and the faith I need to be a true follower of Jesus in this evil and broken world and society.  I pray for a great passion to serve You, to study Your Word and to tell others of the free gift You offer them.  May I and my family be faithful and true in Your eyes and may we serve You so that one day we will hear from Your lips “well done, my faithful servant”.

I pray all these things in the name of Jesus.  Amen.

What to Pray For Today?

Its been several days since I’ve posted my prayer for our nation so I’ll be catching up on some things I need to pray for.  Of course I’ll be praying for our nations new administration and the new President and his team, the safety of our nation and its citizens, the prosperity of our nation and its citizens, the faith of our Christian believers across the nation and the salvation of the non-believers who live in darkness without hope of an eternity with God.

First, A Praise

An image of a nuclear blast
An image of a nuclear blast

Last night, my husband and I were watching a documentary on the 1980 incident at the Titan 2 silo site in Damascus, Arkansas.  I would have been in my late 20’s and he in his early 30’s.  I really can’t remember anything of the incident.  At that age, I was so focused on my activities and my coaching and sports, I paid no attention to news and watched very little TV.  After watching the documentary, I now realize how close Arkansas came to being eradicated completely by a nuclear explosion.  That would have been the end of us, all due to a simple tool dropping accident.

As I think on this, I am so thankful for a loving God that protected me and many, many others from an awful fate.  Our God is so good and so loving and so powerful, He is worthy of my praise and my worship.  As I continue to think on this, giving Him my praise, I also wonder what would God do now if another incident happened.  Our society has changed so much since the 1080’s and our new distain and ignorance toward the things of God is so prevalent in our society today.  I wonder if God will truly lift His hand of protection from our nation and allow such devastating incidents to actually happen.  In the documentary, it was stated that many, many close calls happen each year involving nuclear weapons.  We are so fortunate that up till now, God has not allowed a true disaster to occur in our country.  However, as more and more of our citizens refuse to acknowledge a living, loving, creator God; I wonder if that will change as God lifts His hand of protection from our nation.  A nation who in the past few years, has proven an enemy to God’s people of Israel and a support of nations who hate both Israel and the United States.

Saturday, December 24, 2016 – My Christmas Eve Prayer

Christmas Eve Is A Great Time to Pray

An image of 3 wise men on camels.
An image of 3 wise men on camels.

It’s now Christmas Eve and my mind turns toward the ‘Reason for the Season”.  Tonight and tomorrow, as believers, we will celebrate the birth of Jesus, our Lord and Savior.

Just thinking about how the birth of an infant – a holy, divine infant and also a man child – born over 2,000 years ago has changed our world and yours and my life as individuals, is totally amazing.  Only our wonderful heavenly Father could make such a plan to reconcile himself to a sinful and dying world.  Even His mighty angelic creations understood and praised the birth of Jesus, as He lowered Himself from the Father’s throne and took on the form of a man and entered this world to live and to die for us.

“And there were shepherds living out in the fields nearby, keeping watch over their flocks at night. An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified. 10 But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people. 11 Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord. 12 This will be a sign to you: You will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger.”

13 Suddenly a great company of the heavenly host appeared with the angel, praising God and saying,

14 “Glory to God in the highest heaven,
and on earth peace to those on whom his favor rests.”

The angels that night proclaimed “peace on earth” to those on whom God’s favor rests.

What does that mean, to have God’s favor? The Psalmist says:

“Surely, Lord, you bless the righteous; you surround them with your favor as with a shield.” – Psalm 51:12

So, do we have to be righteous?  If so, how is that possible?

Fortunately, even though we are flawed, sinful people, we can certainly can attain righteousness.  The Bible tells us:

“God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.” – 2 Corinthians 5;21

Our righteousness is found in Jesus only.  The angels proclaimed our favor with God on that night long ago.  What a reason for us to celebrate this season.  Our Savior, Jesus, bestows His righteousness and God’s favor on us and because of Him, we also receive the peace promised to us that night.

Today, my prayer is for that peace to be realized in our nation.

My Prayer For Peace On The Earth

An image of the nativity
An image of the nativity

Dear Lord, I come to you early this morning, thanking You for Your gift of Jesus who you sent to become our sacrificial lamb.  The lamb that was slain to take away our sins and reconcile us with You.  I pray for all those in this nation today who call Jesus their Lord and Savior, to understand that we are already promised Your peace through Jesus’s birth.  Jesus himself comforted His disciples as recorded in John 14:27, saying “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.”

So Lord, I pray we each be reminded that although this fallen world contains many sorrows and fearsome things, we can receive peace from Jesus our Savior and because of Him, our hearts can be unafraid or troubled.

And Lord, because Your love has given me such a wondrous gift of peace, I want to pray for those who live without You, in darkness and in hopelessness and fear.  Perhaps they haven’t ever heard of You and the good news of Jesus; or perhaps they have been deceived by the evil one to follow false gods, but I pray You will send Your Holy Spirit to touch each heart and convict them first of their sins against You and that they can reach out to You asking for Your help.  If they do that, I pray You will send Your servants to tell them the good news about Jesus and that they will repent and receive Him as Lord and Savior.  I pray that many will turn to Jesus today and tomorrow and become Your child and a follower of Your holy Son.

I pray especially for those lost in the service of Mohamad and the Lie of Islam.  I pray for conversions, many, many of them who will turn from that false doctrine and turn to Jesus and receive Your Salvation and Your peace today.

Lord, I pray Your blessings on my country, the United Stated of America this Christmas and that Your hand of protection will be upon her, protecting her from the evil plots and schemes of Satan.  I pray those who are beyond redemption and are full of evil and corruption and hold high positions in our land, be brought down and destroyed and our leadership returned to You, oh God.  May we truly be One Nation, Under You, oh Lord. And may the peace of Jesus be upon us this Christmas.

I pray that You will forgive my sins and the sins of my nation and bless us in the name of Jesus, Your son and our Savior.  Amen.

The Battle Continues

It’s been a few days since I’ve posted a prayer.  Life has gotten pretty busy as it does for all of us during the holiday season.  This year I’m really trying to focus on the “reason for the season”.  So I’m saying “Merry Christmas” to all of you who read this.  Christ is truly what this season is about, not parties, presents, feasting or Santa.  December 25th is the day we celebrate the birth of Jesus the Christ who died a horrible death to save us from receiving the just reward for our sins against a holy God. Prayer for today

I’ve been reading news and thinking about the new administration for our country that is being put together by Donald Trump’s team.  There are several people he has selected that I’m pretty happy with, Ben Carson for one.  But there are others I really do not know much about and I’m concerned about the Secretary of State cabinet position that has yet to be filled.  I know that I should be praying about this pick and others that have already been selected and some not selected yet.

I’ve also been feeling sorry for Hillary Clinton after reading how broken she is appearing to her staffers, so I want to pray for her again.

If you agree, please join me in praying today for these things.

My Prayer

Dear Lord, I come today to you once again, lifting up our President elect, Donald Trump and his team as they select those he would place in cabinet positions for our nation.  Each of these are important positions and crucial for our country.  Lord I pray for those he has already selected:

  • Defense Secretary – retired Marine Gen. James Mattis
  • Attorney General – Alabama Sen. Jeff Sessions
  • Education Secretary – Betsy DeVos
  • Secretary of Health and Human Services – Georgia Rep. Tom Price
  • Transportation Secretary – Elaine Chao
  • Treasury Secretary – Steven Mnuchin
  • Commerce Secretary – Wilbur Ross
  • Secretary for Housing and Urban Development (looks like Ben Carson for this one)

Lord I lift each of these men and women up to You, asking that you gift them with wisdom and discernment to be able to serve our country well in each of these positions.  I pray for their safety and that of their families.  I pray that each man and woman knows You as Lord of their lives and that You will strengthen their faith and give them boldness to stand for Your precepts in their lives and in their new positions.  I pray You give them with words that are both wise and reasonable as they perform their duties now and in the future.

The following appointees are still yet to be picked:

  • Secretary for Interior
  • Secretary for Agriculture
  • Secretary for Labor
  • Secretary for Energy
  • Secretary for Veterans Affairs
  • Secretary for Homeland Security
  • Secretary of  State

Lord, I also come to You lifting up those who are being considered for each of these cabinet positions.  I pray You will guide Donald and his team toward the perfect choices in each position; that they will choose men and women who love and follow You and that have the skills and temperaments to perform each duty in ways that will help our nation and be within Your perfect will Oh Lord.  I pray that the liberal media will find it hard to cry out against each person chosen, because these men and women are upright and honest in their dealings.  I pray that the republican and conservative members of Congress will support Donald Trump and his team in each selection You guide them to make for these positions.

Prayer for Hillary Clinton

Father God, I also come before You today, lifting up your creation, Hillary Clinton.  Lord, you know my heart toward this women, that I believe she had done great wrongs and spoken great lies to our nation; however I also know that You love her just as much as You love me, so I lift her up to You, asking that You send Your Holy Spirit to her, to convict her of her sins and reminding her that You offer her salvation and reconciliation with You through Your son Jesus.  I pray You will place in her a great desire for the peace and healing only You can give her. I pray for her family, Bill Clinton and Chelsea also, that Your Spirit will be working in their hearts also, drawing them to You and Your Son, Jesus.

And Lord, I pray that she and her family will be so miserable and tired, that they will realize that only You are the answer for them.  I pray each one will desire to know more of You and Your Word.  I pray that they will see Your people, Your Word, and Your Church, wherever they go and that You will constantly bring them into contact with You through Your people and Your institutions.

And Lord, if Hillary and her family are beyond redemption and serve the adversary, I pray You will give her over to him and that You will see that their evil deeds are exposed and that they are punished.  Also I pray for those in our law enforcement and intelligence agencies who our working on these cases, that You protect they and their families from harm and help them bring to light the evil deeds and doers with our leadership so that they can be stopped and punished.

Revival

Lord, lastly I pray again for a great revival in our land.  I pray that Your Holy Spirit will sweep across this country, strengthening Your children and Your Church and giving us boldness and conviction to follow You in all that we do in our lives.  I pray that Christians all over our nation will begin reading and studying Your Word and falling on their knees to lift up each worry and care to You and to worship You as You deserve.  I pray You will put the correct words in our mouths to proclaim You and to tell the Good News of Jesus your Son and His sacrifice to all those around us.  I pray for protection over Your children here in our nation.  Please protect Your children from plans of the evil one to harm them and their possessions.  I pray that no evil plan or scheme prosper and each will be brought to light and stopped.  I pray that You will encourage others across this land to repent of their sins, turn to You and pray as I do for our nation.  I pray that as You promised, You will hear our prayers, forgive us our sins and heal our land.

I pray all these things Lord in the name of Jesus, Your Son and my Savior.  Amen.

My Heart Breaks Today

Fellow Christians, today my heart is breaking for specific prayers.  Last night I was allowed to see a video that was so evil and so repulsive that I found it hard to believe a person could want to do such an evil deed.  However, is does happen, a lot and even in our own beloved nation.

Here are words I found when researching this morning: Continue reading “Saturday, November 19, 2017”

Prayer for this Day for our Nation

I was thinking last night that God does give us a promise for our nation in 2 Chronicles.

“Then if my people who are called by my name will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sins and restore their land.”

This tells me that our nation can be healed and return to receiving God’s blessing. Continue reading “Friday, November 18, 2016”

A Prayer for Today

Today I feel the push to pray for our law enforcement throughout our land.  First for those in blue, our policemen and women who place themselves frequently in harms way while enforcing the law.

Lord, I pray for these men and women who know You as Lord.  I pray they will feel the need to walk closer with You and also crave the reading of Your Word.  I pray for their safety from harm as they go about their daily tasks.  I pray that You will give them wisdom in how to react to the many different situations they find themselves in while performing their duties.  I pray you will give them many of the gifts of the spirit. Lord, I pray today

I do apologize for not posting my prayer yesterday, but the things of this world kinda got in the way and I allowed them to keep me from my computer and this blog.

I did spend some time yesterday morning listening to a sermon by my preacher here in Bella Vista, Mike McCauley of Bella Vista Baptist Church.  I do enjoy his sermons, which tend to step on my toes a lot.  That is good because sometimes we all need to be shaken up a little and made to think on the things of God in a different way. Donald the businessman

Today I’ve been relaxing and enjoying my life.  The state of our nation has been on the back of my mind.  I love it, because I can now be more relaxed since I once again have hope for the future.  Mr. Trump and his team continue to work on their plans and I’m hearing and reading some interesting things.  I do believe that we are beginning to see Donald Trump the businessman, hard working and ready to work with others.  I also think that Mike Pence and Ben Carson’s influence are showing with their calmer approaches.  I know many are still angry across the nation, but I hope they will give the Donald and his team a chance instead of staying ballistic about this new administration.  I pray the violence and those egging it on and paying these protesters completely stop.
