Today my heart is heavy with worry for my nation because it seems that the security of our citizens has been compromised from within and many evil plans and plots are underway to undermine our elected President and his administration. What’s worse is this evil is being led by a former president and his minions in order to disrupt the government of our country. This puts every aspect of our government and all of our citizens in danger. This is my prayer focus for today.
My Prayer for today
Lord God, my God and God of my country, I come to you today, in total humbleness, asking for your intervention to help my country. Please Lord, send your Holy Spirit and your mighty angel armies to seek out and make public and known to our citizens, those who are engaged in a shadow government intended to sabotage our new administration and the security of our nation. In addition Lord God, please give our current and legally elected leaders the perfect solution to this issue and lead them to every act they need to perform to stop this and to make our citizens, our leaders and our country safe from the evil now being perpetrated upon our leaders.
And Lord, if former President Obama’s and Mr. Soros’s and any others intents are to harm the U.S. and our constitution and law and order in this country, I pray Yu will stop every evil plan and plot from succeeding and that you will bring them to justice, using law enforcement who love our nation and our constitution and obey the laws of our land.
God, this needs to be addressed and stopped now and all the minions of our evil former President and Mr. Soros and others stopped and arrested. Show our congress, our President, our Vice President, the Attorney General and other true Americans exactly what to do about this and the perfect timing in which to do it
I pray you will bring to light all laws that have been broken, including the espionage act and who has broken them, why they were broken and who instituted the breaking of our laws and that each and every evil doer will be stopped, arrested and prosecuted, no matter who they are.
Lord, President Obama changed the rules on espionage on January 3rd, along with former AJ Lynch and others in the former administration. This is so evil and unprecedented and certainly needs to be acknowledged and the evil intent brought to light to all our citizens.
Lord, I lay this at your loving and mighty feet, asking You to protect our nation and our new President and his new administration, and to root out and destroy this evil in our land.
I pray the following scripture for our new President, Donald Trump and his team.
“The Lord will preserve him and keep him alive, and he will be blessed on the earth; You will not deliver him to the will of his enemies. Psalm 41:2”
Father God, I pray all this in the name of Jesus, Your son and my savior and I pray and give praise and honor to You who deserve all our praise and worship. Thank you God for Your faithfulness even to those who are unfaithful to You. Amen
I request that you join me in praying the prayer above and ask that you share your own prayers in the comments. Your comments and your own prayers are welcome. – Shirley
Today is Valentine Day in our Nation. A day that we celebrate our love for special people in our lives. But as I read post after post and news articles, one after another, I see that love is very far from the minds of many of those in our nation. There is a great lack of love and even civility towards our elected President, Donald Trump. In fact, the hatred shown is great and disturbing. Today my prayers are for President Trump and his administration and his leadership.
Today is a very special day for our nation. Our constitution provides for the orderly transition of leadership. The 20th amendment to our Constitution was ratified on January 23, 1933. Check out this link on the history of the 20th Amendment. These paragraphs are included in the article.
In order to ensure a smooth transition of power, there is a need for a period of time between the election and the swearing in of the new period. New presidents have to choose cabinet members and other key administration members, as well as get up to speed on security issues and simply began the task of physically moving a new team to Washington. For the old president, this time in office is referred to as “the lame duck” period, a term taken from Wall Street that used to refer to people who could not pay off their loans–persons, like the lame duck president, without much capital.
Before the enactment of the 20th Amendment in 1933, the new president was not sworn until the March following the election. This long delay caused problems. In the “secession winter” after the election of Abraham Lincoln, President James Buchanan watched as secessionists seized federal forts and arsenals. By March 1861, when Lincoln finally took office, the Civil War was nearly lost before it even began. Seven decades later, in the middle of the Great Depression, the lame duck period of president Herbert Hoover seemed far too long. Hoover and Franklin Roosevelt barely communicated and the country waited for decisive action from its newly chosen leader. In response, the 20th Amendment was proposed and adopted.
Because of the 20th Amendment, January 20th became Inauguration Day. The oath is taken as close to noon as possible.
Later today, our nation will once again be transitioning from one administration and President to a new administration and President. Donald Trump will be our 45th President. Here’s a link to a list of all of our Presidents.
This past election process and even these days since the election has been one of the more “ugly” and tumultuous of my lifetime. Each of us has our own thoughts and opinions and we should, for we are not a nation of robots or a creation of clones and puppets.
As Christians, whether we voted for the new President or not, Your Word, Oh God, tells us to pray for our leaders. For you and I to be obedient to our Lord and our Savior, we should take heed and follow this request of yours Lord, given to us in 1 Timothy 2:1-3:
1 I urge, then, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for all people— 2 for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness. 3 This is good, and pleases God our Savior…” -1 Timothy 2:1-3
I’ve been watching the news today and listening to the various talking heads and reading on the online news sites and of course in the various Facebook posts and comments. I too have a fear that today may result in our citizens harming each other and damaging property. There are reported to be thousands upon thousands who will be protesting and then again thousands who will be engaged into protesting the protesters. How awful for one citizen to be pitted against another and even more, one child of God against another child. I’m happy to read that there are also thousands committed to praying for our new president and for this day in our nation. Early this morning, I join my own prayer to others who will be praying later and maybe even now.
My Prayer for Our Nation
Lord God, I come to you in these wee hours of the morning with a heavy heart to lay my cares and fears at Your holy feet. Lord You do tell us to bring our cares and our worries to You, so I am doing so today. Lord I pray You will protect our nation and our leaders today and each person at the inaugural events – each of them this day and the coming days as the new President and his administration begin to take on their duties.
I pray for the protection of Donald Trump, Mike Pence and each member of their teams and also their families during these days. I pray Your hand of power and mercy will be held strong above our nation, holding back every strike or arrow thrown at us by the evil one, your ancient adversary, Satan and his minions. I pray no loss of life or injury will occur in the mobs and masses who attend the various events today and this weekend. I pray for all law enforcement and the special agents whose duty is to protect our leaders. I pray for those who have allowed hate and anger to rise up within themselves and who intend to act out in violence and anger – even hate toward their fellow men and women. I pray Your Holy Spirit will touch their hearts and calm their anger and in some manner drawn their lost souls to You, reminding them that You are a God of forgiveness and mercy and You want a special and unique relationship with them so You will be a friend to them throughout all of eternity.
I pray for the hearts of each leader who will take up new jobs and responsibilities for our nation. I pray they will be convicted to seek Your hand and Your guidance for each task and each decision they have. I pray You will divinely gift them with the best and wisest words and actions to take to please You and grow Your kingdom here in our nation. May Donald Trump and Mike Pence and each new cabinet member, be a follower of Your precious son, Jesus and seek to know You more closely in the coming days. And may each one resolve to become a better follower of Jesus during this new period of their lives.
May Your Holy Spirit sweep throughout our land, beginning today, to bring about a great revival across our nation in those who are now living in darkness without the hope of an eternity with You.
I pray no group or individual who plans evil against our nation or one of our leaders will be unstopped and their evil plans succeed. I pray Your justice will be that which You desire for each one given over to evil deeds and plans. Lord, this is Your prerogative, for “justice is Yours, You tell us in your Word.
Beloved, never avenge yourselves, but leave it to the wrath of God, for it is written, “Vengeance is mine, I will repay, says the Lord.” Romans 12:19
May each of us, Your children of this nation, be reminded of this today, so that none will take vengeance unto their own hands.
And lastly Lord, I pray and plead your blessings upon our nation. May I and every follower of Yours, seek forgiveness for our many sins and repent and seek Your face for that forgiveness today. I pray these words to you this morning.
I know there will be many praying this verse today and I join with them in humbly asking for Your forgiveness and healing for our nation.
“If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.” 2 Chronicles 7:14
I request that you join me in praying the prayer above and ask that you share your own prayers in the comments. Your comments and your own prayers are welcome. – Shirley
Its been several days since I’ve posted my prayer for our nation so I’ll be catching up on some things I need to pray for. Of course I’ll be praying for our nations new administration and the new President and his team, the safety of our nation and its citizens, the prosperity of our nation and its citizens, the faith of our Christian believers across the nation and the salvation of the non-believers who live in darkness without hope of an eternity with God.
First, A Praise
Last night, my husband and I were watching a documentary on the 1980 incident at the Titan 2 silo site in Damascus, Arkansas. I would have been in my late 20’s and he in his early 30’s. I really can’t remember anything of the incident. At that age, I was so focused on my activities and my coaching and sports, I paid no attention to news and watched very little TV. After watching the documentary, I now realize how close Arkansas came to being eradicated completely by a nuclear explosion. That would have been the end of us, all due to a simple tool dropping accident.
As I think on this, I am so thankful for a loving God that protected me and many, many others from an awful fate. Our God is so good and so loving and so powerful, He is worthy of my praise and my worship. As I continue to think on this, giving Him my praise, I also wonder what would God do now if another incident happened. Our society has changed so much since the 1080’s and our new distain and ignorance toward the things of God is so prevalent in our society today. I wonder if God will truly lift His hand of protection from our nation and allow such devastating incidents to actually happen. In the documentary, it was stated that many, many close calls happen each year involving nuclear weapons. We are so fortunate that up till now, God has not allowed a true disaster to occur in our country. However, as more and more of our citizens refuse to acknowledge a living, loving, creator God; I wonder if that will change as God lifts His hand of protection from our nation. A nation who in the past few years, has proven an enemy to God’s people of Israel and a support of nations who hate both Israel and the United States.
As 2016 is fast coming to its end, I’m concerned about our nation and that the outgoing administration is rushing to seemingly obstruct the incoming administration in several important issues. For one, the thought that the US refused to back our long time ally, Israel, in the United Nations resolution concerning the settlements is very disturbing. The US has supported Israel since before the cold war and has had a mutually beneficial relationship. However the current administration has made no secret of its contempt of the US/Israeli supportive relationship. As for US Christians, it is important that our country support Israel because of the covenant relationship God has with the Israeli people. God’s promises to Abraham are not yet totally fulfilled. Israel is still special to God and should therefore also be special to us as believers.
So I do want to pray for our Nation to continue a supportive and beneficial relationship with Israel. Not doing so could put us in the category of siding with the enemies of God’s chosen people (He will still continue to bless His chosen ones in accordance with His promises).
Another issue that I would like to pray about today is our role in caretaking the resources that God has given us.
We learn in Genesis 1:26-28 that God created man and woman in His image and gave them dominion over all the Earth. This included all the animals that God had created as well as the entire Earth. God also charged their descendants with the care for all the Earth (Gen. 1:28).
Even after the curse, God never withdrew this responsibility. We must care for the world that God has given to us.
The wonderful natural resources that are available to our nation is certainly a blessing from the Creator. And as for myself, I do consider the welfare of people more important that that of an animal or a tree or a natural resource. However, to be obedient and follow God’s direction to the first man and woman, we should be mindful of the natural blessings we have available.
Lastly, I want to pray for the inauguration of our President-Elect, Donald Trump and his new cabinet and administration.
In the beginning was the Word,
and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things came into being through Him,
and apart from Him nothing came into being that has come into being. -John 1:1-3
Dear Lord, I come to You today, praising you for the season of celebration we have just completed that commemorates the birth of Your Son Jesus as a man child. You tell us that Your Word literally put on flesh and became human like each of us and voluntarily surrendered the highest of places to come and provide us with a way to be redeemed from our fallen state.
The Word became flesh and made His dwelling among us We have seen His glory, the glory of the one and only Son, from the Father, full of grace and truth” – John 1:14
We certainly do not deserve the honor and grace You offer to us through Your Son and His sacrifice. Who are we that You would create this wonderful plan and bring it to completion for sinners such as we are.
“What is man, that You are mindful of him, or the son of man, that You care for him? You made him a little lower than the angels; You crowned him with glory and honor and placed everything under his feet.” – Hebrews 2:7
God when you subjected all things to Jesus, You left nothing outside of His control. Even though we do not see everything under His control as yet, we know that will come to pass for You have said it.
O Lord God, we offer you our most sincere gratitude for giving us this most precious of gifts – the gift of Your only Son, Jesus who was with You in the beginning and
God I again lift my nation up to you, asking for Your forgiveness where our leaders did not support Your chosen people. I pray for Your continued blessings and protection on the nation of Israel. Maybe Your might hand of power be over each citizen and their land, protecting it from attack from its enemies. May no weapon forged against them succeed. Lord, please grant Your wisdom to President-elect Donald Trump and his administration to make wise and just decisions in our nations relationships with Israel and other nations in the world.
I pray Donald Trump will seek Your guidance and bow to Your Word and Your will in guiding our nation while he is in office. May You surround him with wise and skilled men and women who can provide good advice and information to him. May You give Your light to our military and intelligence workers so that information provided to President Trump is accurate and complete.
And Lord, I pray that any evil scheme or plot to disrupt the inauguration and the transition of administrations be brought to light and disrupted. Lord, I especially pray that any protest plans will be confused and fall asunder and fail to disrupt the ceremonies that day.
I pray for the safety of President Trump, VP Mike Pence and their families and for each appointee in the new administrations cabinet. I pray for the safety of the citizens of our nation and for its infrastructure and its assets. May Your mighty servants have victory in their unseen battles.
Lord, finally I pray that You place in the hearts of our leaders and President Trump and his administration, an appreciation for the wondrous gift of the natural resources You have blessed us with. I pray You gift our leaders with wisdom to be good stewards of that which You have given us.
Lord, I ask that You forgive me my many sins and failures in following You and strengthen my faith and make me a better servant of Yours. I pray all these things in the name of Your son and my Savior, Jesus. Amen.
It’s been a few days since I’ve posted a prayer. Life has gotten pretty busy as it does for all of us during the holiday season. This year I’m really trying to focus on the “reason for the season”. So I’m saying “Merry Christmas” to all of you who read this. Christ is truly what this season is about, not parties, presents, feasting or Santa. December 25th is the day we celebrate the birth of Jesus the Christ who died a horrible death to save us from receiving the just reward for our sins against a holy God. Today, I’ve been reading about the many riots and protesters in several cities across our nation. I’m also reading they may be supported and possibly paid by groups such as moveon and BLM. This is not right and I know of no one personally who would participate in a violent riot of any kind. This is also a holiday to remember and honor the veterans of our country. They put their lives on the line for us and they deserve to be remembered. Mr. Trump continues to work on his transition and new cabinet positons. These are the things I pray about today. Continue reading “Friday, November 11, 2016”
President-elect Donald Trump is beginning his transition phase and looking to choose his administration’s team and cabinet. Meanwhile, liberal America protests and shows their true colors. My prayers are for this today.
Dear Lord, I come to You today again lifting up my nation for Your blessing and forgiveness. I know Your love and mercy has no bounds and that is so good for us. I feel that we must so disappoint You many times. However, I praise You today for Your faithfulness, even when we are unfaithful, You are faithful. Continue reading “Thursday, November 10, 2016”
